The Office of Special Education is excited to bring you a new Coffee Talk video series. These videos will keep you up-to-date on important happenings and changes that are going on in the world of special education in Indiana. Although similar to the Short Share videos, these important “talks” will run a little longer and contain more detailed information that we hope you will find both useful and informative. Coffee Talk #2: Accommodations: Daily Classroom vs. Statewide Standardized Testing

The Office of Special Education has released its second video in the new Coffee Talk series. These videos are little bit longer than the Short Shares but go more in depth into a variety of topics. The latest video discusses accommodations during the school year vs. annual standardized statewide assessments. The panel consists of Karen Stein from the IDOE Office of Student Assessment, Daniel McNulty, the Director of the PATINS Project, and Joy Zabala from the National Center on Accessible Educational Materials for Learning. This video is a complement to a Spread the Word that was released in the2016-17 school year.

In partnership with our Indiana IEP Resource Center, Project SUCCESS, and the Indiana Secondary Transition Resource Center, the latest video discusses the key components of a measurable annual goal and how it aligns to grade-level standards with a focus on skills.
